Quicklung

DJ Quicklung grew up listening to rave tape packs from all the titans of House, Old Skool Hardcore, Breakbeat, Techno, Jungle and Drum & Bass, which lead to him buying his first record in around 1996 from Raggamuffin Records in Colchester, Essex.

Upon leaving school he attended a music course funded by the Essex Youth Service, in which the legendary DJ Ellis Dee was the tutor. He helped Quicklung how to mix, adding in tips and tricks of the trade.

In 2001, Quicklung landed his first gig after learning to perfect his mixing skills, amazingly, he was on the same line up as Fabio & Ray Keith. Soon after, he would be on more flyers with heavyweights of the scene, playing many various styles of almost the entire spectrum of underground dance music. He considers himself musically as a Jack Of All Trades and never specifically pigeon holed himself in to just a one genre DJ.

He has also promoted his own parties and nights on and off since 2004, under the banner of ‘Precision’ and latterly ‘Ecology’. This led to him booking and appearing alongside some of the all time greats of the Jungle/D&B scene and also countless lesser known acts locals DJs who are among some of the unsung hero’s of the scene in his opinion.

Many highlights have included being the supporting DJ at an Audio Bully’s Live in Birmingham gig, winning a DJ Comp and warming up for Sub Focus at his peak and playing for some many amazing promoters including Eclipse Cambridge Reunions, Milwaukee’s Reunions Innovation, Mindwarp, Rage at Heaven, Epidemik and more.

His beloved football team lead him to meet Aston of the Freestylers, where they sparked up a friendship due to their love for music which lead them to create music together. This was picked up by Suburban Base/Boogie Times where they’ve had 2 EP’s released to much acclaim with 1 entering the top 10 peaking at number 6 in the official UK Vinyl Chart in 2021, making it one of the best selling “Breakbeat Old Skool Hardcore” records of that year.

Future plans are afoot for his own Record Label which will be releasing on Vinyl & Digital called CONFESS Records with the first 2 already in the pipeline and ready to go.
